Today’s gold price / How much is one qian?

In Taiwan, “today’s gold price” is often quoted in TWD per qian. The homepage theoretical qian converts a COMEX gold reference (USD per troy ounce) with Bank of Taiwan USD spot-sell into grams and qian. Comparison only — not a jewelry shop’s trade price.

What is a Taiwan qian here?

This site uses the common jewelry convention: 1 qian = 3.75 grams. USD/oz becomes TWD/gram, then × 3.75 for TWD/qian. A troy ounce is about 31.1034768 grams; pages label the source and FX basis.

If a page shows grams or another unit, the same theoretical cost is converted — different unit, same method.

COMEX × Bank of Taiwan FX

Outline: (1) take COMEX gold futures (GC) or a public spot fallback in USD/oz; (2) multiply Bank of Taiwan USD spot-sell; (3) divide by 31.1034768 for TWD/gram; (4) multiply 3.75 for TWD/qian. If BOT FX is unavailable, a market FX fallback may be used and labeled.

Theoretical buy excludes dealer spread, making charges, tax and brand premium. When the market is closed or delayed, quote pages keep the last valid figure and label status — missing prices are never invented.

How does this differ from a shop board?

Shop boards add inventory, purity and processing. Estimated sell on this site adds about 4% to theoretical buy as a band check, not a posted price. Use the jewelry page for Taiwan estimates and the COMEX page for USD/oz.

Global quotes cover multi-currency weights; gold-price news sits under Market news → Gold prices.

Theoretical qian is for reference only — not a shop, bank or recycler trade price. Not investment advice. No Product/Offer markup for invented boards.

Today’s gold price FAQ

Is the homepage qian a live shop price?

No. It is a Taiwan theoretical qian (and gram) from COMEX × Bank of Taiwan USD spot-sell. Comparison only, not a dealer trade price.

Why use the bank’s sell FX rate?

The model treats buying USD with TWD as the cost side of an international gold reference, so it uses Bank of Taiwan USD spot-sell. That is a consistent theoretical choice, not a bank or shop deal.

How do I convert qian and grams?

1 qian = 3.75 g. TWD/qian ÷ 3.75 ≈ TWD/gram; TWD/gram × 3.75 ≈ TWD/qian. Actual trades still follow shop weighing and boards.
