History conversion note: The table uses the same period as the chart. Each row converts that day’s COMEX close with same-day or nearest prior FX. Missing FX is omitted; today’s rate is not applied to the past. Recycle = that day’s theoretical buy × 999.9. Source: CMX GC futures via Yahoo Finance × 臺灣銀行美元即期賣出(歷史牌告).
HOW TO READ
How to read buy, sell and recycle
Buy: theoretical cost
Buy is the international gold reference (GC first) times Bank of Taiwan’s USD spot-sell rate, converted into Taiwan’s qian. It is a theoretical fine-gold cost, before dealer spread, workmanship or tax.
Sell: estimated premium
Sell adds a 4% estimated premium to theoretical buy so you can compare typical jewelry-shop ask ranges. It is not a posted board price and is not executable.
Recycle: purity ratio
Theoretical recycle = buy × purity (999.9, 916, 750). The table column is 999.9 fine-gold content and excludes testing, loss and fees. It is not a bar or jewelry shop bid.
WHITE GOLD
This jewelry table is gold only
Buy, sell and recycle on this table all start from the gold theoretical price. The recycle column is theoretical buy times purity (999.9, 916, 750). A white-colored piece may not belong here. White gold is still gold — stamps are often K, 750 or 585 — so read purity instead. Platinum (PT, Pt950) and silver are different metals. Do not treat this table or the gold-qian formula as a platinum recycle price. We do not invent a platinum, white-gold or silver buy board.
FAQ
Jewelry gold price FAQ
How much is one qian of gold in Taiwan today?
Theoretical buy on this site is about NT$ 15,303 per qian, and estimated sell is about NT$ 15,915 per qian. Both convert the COMEX gold reference by Bank of Taiwan USD spot-sell. They are not a jewelry shop’s trade price. See the gold-units and Taiwan-qian guides for definitions.
What do buy and sell mean here?
Buy is the theoretical cost from the GC gold reference times Bank of Taiwan USD spot-sell, excluding dealer spread, workmanship and tax. Sell adds a 4% estimated premium so you can compare a typical jewelry ask range. It is not a shop board price. See the BOT vs COMEX guide for the two layers.
Why doesn’t this match a jewelry shop board?
Shops add their own spread, purity check, workmanship and inventory risk. This site only publishes a verifiable international gold and FX conversion, so the figures differ. Confirm any trade in store.
How is the recycle figure estimated?
Theoretical recycle multiplies the Taiwan theoretical buy by purity (999.9, 916, 750). It does not deduct testing, loss or fees, and it is not a bar or jewelry shop bid. Buy, estimated sell and recycle are three directions — do not subtract them. See Jewelry buy vs recycle.
Can I use this table for white-colored jewelry?
Only when the piece is gold. White gold is still a gold alloy (often K, 750 or 585), so use the purity guide. Platinum (PT) and silver are different metals — this table and the gold-qian formula are not a platinum recycle price. We do not invent one.
How often is the data updated?
The international gold source is checked about every 3 minutes, and Bank of Taiwan FX follows its posted time. When the market is closed, the last valid quote is kept and labeled.
How does TWD per qian here relate to USD per ounce on the COMEX page?
Buy and sell on this page are shown in TWD per qian. They come from the COMEX USD per troy ounce figure times Bank of Taiwan USD spot-sell, then converted with 1 qian = 3.75 g. Do not read the COMEX USD/oz number as a per-qian price. This remains a theoretical reference, not a shop board.
How does the history table convert FX?
Each row pairs that day’s COMEX close with Bank of Taiwan USD spot-sell for the same Taipei calendar day, or the nearest prior business day. Days without FX are omitted. Today’s rate is never applied to the past. The chart is labeled a historical FX reference. Column-by-column reading is in How to read the jewelry daily table.
